Registration Now Open for Second Annual
Anthem LemonAid July 16-18
Kids helping kids fight cancer
NORFOLK, Va.– March 31, 2010 – Remember the excitement of setting up a neighborhood lemonade stand as a kid? Now you can relive that feeling, experience it with your children, and more importantly--help a worthy cause at the same time.
Children and families throughout the Hampton Roads area will host hundreds of LemonAid stands to support kids fighting cancer during the second annual Anthem LemonAid to be held the weekend of July 16-18, 2010. Families, businesses and community groups are encouraged to register and participate to benefit childhood cancer treatment at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, Hampton Roads’ local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.
To register to host a stand, please visit www.anthemlemonaid.com or call 757-668-7070. Registration is limited, so be sure to sign up today.
In addition to a traditional LemonAid stand, participants have the opportunity to raise money using an Online LemonAid Stand. Online LemonAid Stands will be active from registration until July 31, 2010, and can be personalized with goal information, pictures and messages.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia has teamed up with Children’s Miracle Network to sponsor this grassroots fundraising event to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against childhood cancer. Last year, 286 LemonAid stands raised more than $39,000.
“This event has become a tradition in the Richmond area thanks to the generosity of children, families and businesses,” said C. Burke King, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia. “Anthem is proud to be a part of the enthusiasm and we encourage everyone to take part in this great event by either participating or visiting a stand during Anthem LemonAid weekend.”
To help make your stand a success, each participant will receive a FREE LemonAid kit that includes lemonade mix, cups, pitcher, signs and more. Cups (12 oz.) of lemonade are sold for
$1 each and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.
Anthem LemonAid is sponsored byAnthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and M&T Bank. LemonAid partners include Farm Fresh, Panera, Walmart & Sam’s Club, and Kangaroo Jac’s.
This year’s Wrap-up Celebration will be held at Kangaroo Jac’s at 830 Professional Place West in Chesapeake from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 18. All participants are invited to attend, and anyone who turns in their donation that day will be able to enjoy the fun at Kangaroo Jac’s for only $2 per person.
