FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Registration Now Open for Seventh Annual
Anthem LemonAid July 18-20

Kids helping kids fight cancer

RICHMOND, Va.– May 8, 2008 – Remember the excitement of setting up a neighborhood lemonade stand as a kid? Now you can relive that feeling, experience it with your children, and more importantly--help a worthy cause at the same time.

Children and families throughout the Richmond area can support kids fighting cancer by registering for the seventh annual Anthem LemonAid to be held the weekend of July 18-20, 2008. Families, businesses and community groups are encouraged to set up a festive stand and sell lemonade to benefit pediatric cancer treatment at Children Miracle Network-Richmond’s (CMN-R) member hospitals.

To register to host a stand, please visit http://www.childrensmiraclenetwork.net or call 804-228-5929. Registration is limited, so be sure to sign up today.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia has teamed up with CMN-Richmond to sponsor this grassroots fundraising event to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against pediatric cancer. Last year, more than 750 LemonAid stands raised more than $100,000.

“It’s amazing to see children with so much enthusiasm truly making a difference by helping other children. I encourage everyone to take part in this great event by either participating or visiting a stand during Anthem LemonAid weekend,” said Burke King, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia.

To help make your stand a success, each participant will receive a free LemonAid kit that includes lemonade mix, cups, pitcher, signs and more.  Cups (12 oz.) of lemonade are sold for $1 each and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Children’s Miracle Network.

Anthem LemonAid is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, All About Kid’s Magazine, EZ Box Storage, Owens & Minor, Provident Bank, Radio Disney AM 1290, the Richmond Times Dispatch and Ukrop’s.  This year’s Provident Bank Celebration will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 20 on the front lawn of Children’s Hospital located on Brook Road and will feature entertainment from Radio Disney AM 1290.  All participants are invited to attend.
