Dairy Queen Miracle Day Raises Over $10,000 to Benefit Local Children

September 2009

Blizzards were in the forecast for Thursday, August 13th for Miracle Treat Day!

Dairy Queen Stores throughout central Virginia participated in their Annual Miracle Treat Day by serving up something sweet to benefit children. For every Blizzard sold on August 13th, Dairy Queen Stores donated a portion of those funds back to the local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

In support of this effort to raise funds, Children’s Miracle Network Richmond went on a Miracle Treat Tour visiting participating stores with Miracle families. Many treats were purchased at the Dairy Queen stores located at Innsbrook, Parham Road, Bailey Bridge Road, Ashland and Patterson Avenue.

Miracle Child, Matthew McMillen, and his family were one of the many who stopped at their local Dairy Queen on Parham Road to enjoy the featured Thin Mint Blizzards, where Matthew was able to participate in the making process. Matthew has been invited back to the store and upon any visit is invited to help make his own treat!

Other Tour stops led the Children’s Miracle Network crew to Chesterfield. The store manager and his awesome group of Dairy Queen supporters greeted each guest and families with their dinner of choice and of course, Blizzards for dessert. From Chocolate Chip Cookie-Dough to Oreo Cookie, Miracle Children Xavier Kirkland and Ben Millefolie made Miracle Treats part of their day making sure to enjoy something sweet that benefits local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
